Successful completion of this 175 hour program and a national examination will certify you as a SC EMT-Basic, and will enable you to render emergency medical care as prescribed by law for basic EMTs. Additional hours have been added to include training in emergency extrication, and skills practice sessions.
Enrollment requires high school or GED completion and WorkKeys testing. The State agency, DHEC, requires students to take a pre-screening standardized test, WorkKeys, which will be administered prior to class. ASK FOR WORKKEYS TEST DATE WHEN YOU REGISTER.
For state certification, candidates must successfully complete the National Registry Exam. This exam requires self disclosure of any felony convictions which may or may not prevent a candidate from becoming a national registered EMT.
National Registry Phone Number: 1.614.888.4484. This exam requires an additional fee, $70. The skills exam is held in Greenville, additional fee $80; the written exam is held in Columbia.
