This program combines 91 hours of the Nursing Assistant training and 24 hours of Arrhythmia Monitor Technician training. It also includes 4 hours of CPR/BLS training. This multi-skilled Nurse Assistant allows for more employment possibilities in hospitals, specifically as a cardiac monitor technician. Training is based on the standards established for the SC Nurse Aide curriculum. Nurse assistants provide basic personal care for patients in health care facilities, hospitals, and in-home health care. They provide care with vital signs, dressing, feeding, bathing, ambulating and personal assistance. Program study includes 49 hours of classroom and lab experience, 42 hours of clinical work in a selected extended care facility. Arrhythmia Monitor program scheduled for Thursdays: 3/18, 3/25, 4/1, 8am-5pm. Attendance required for all 3 classes. ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE DONE IN PERSON. All students are required to pass a SLED background check. Upon completion of program students are eligible to sit for the State certification examination. Application for this exam is $101.00 and will be available at program completion, and paid separately. A 2 step PPD, or tuberculosis vaccination, is required of all students in order to perform clinical practice, Bring PPD test results to class and give to instructor. *NOTE - Books, materials and uniform must be purchased at the Book Inn on campus. White non-skid shoes are required for clinical portion, and are not available in the bookstore. Information will be given during first class.
