This comprehensive 65 hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the NHA, National Healthcare Association exam. The course will include important practice and background information on anatomy of the heart, physiology, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, laboratory assisting, electrocardiography, stress tests, holter monitors and arrhythmias. Additionally, students will practice with equipment and perform hands-on labs including introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices. EKG Technicians also analyze printed readings of EKG tests, measuring various cardiac intervals and complexes, and determining normal vs. abnormal EKG. Course includes 4 hour CPR class for health professionals through the American Heart Association. .The course will include important practice and background information on anatomy of the heart, physiology, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, laboratory assisting, electrocardiograph, Students receive certifications in EKG, Arrhythmia Monitor, and Basic Life Support for healthcare professionals. Books and materials available at the Book Inn, main campus, approximate cost $139. MUST BRING BASIC LIFE SUPPORT BOOK AND MASK TO CLASS WHEN THE CPR PORTION IS TAUGHT. Date for this will be given in class. The cost for the NHA, National Healthcare Association, national certification examination is $105 and is additional.
